Kayla Becwar (b.1994) currently lives and works in Denver, CO. Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Becwar acquired her BFA in Extended Media from the University of Arizona in May of 2020. Primarily beginning her career as a painter, Kayla quickly began expanding her practicing and experimenting in a wide range of mediums as she explored a range of concepts questioning and examining imposed standards and norms in western culture. Focusing on sexuality and the female form she has been included in numerous prestigious exhibitions featuring both 2 and 3-dimensional works, such as Hilliard Gallery’s “13th Annual Contemporary Figurative Show” in Kansas City, MO and “Lost&Found” by 40 West Arts based in her home of Denver, CO. Becwar continues to develop her practice, utilizing sculpture, performance and painting to interpret her experience as a woman and member of society in western culture.
